The next meeting of the Ophthalmic World Leaders (OWL) Leadership Summit will take place in Austin, TX, on September 21 and 22, 2023, at the Omni Downtown Hotel.

The organization, which works across ophthalmology, has as its mission the goals of providing professional and personal development and creating opportunities for collaboration.

The stated vision of OWL is to “promote and develop diverse leadership to advance ophthalmic innovation and patient care.

The organization accomplishes this by targeting mid-career professionals who have the goal of growing into inclusive, informed, and effective leaders.

The Summit will inspire and enable attendees to achieve their goals via this multi-pronged approach:

  • Develop and lead teams no matter what their current positions
  • Understand the impact of digital transformations in the industry •
  • Turn challenges into leadership opportunities and
  • Make an impact on the ophthalmology community

Reactions to last year’s meeting indicated that all attendees considered the program to be excellent or very good with “dynamic and inspirational presenters, extremely relevant topics, applicable advice, and phenomenal networking.”
